radio boise playlist for week of 10/22/07

Let's hear it for the girls...

This show stacked up a big batch of female vocalists, most of the tracks from the American 'Girl Groups' era of the mid-fifties to the mid-sixties.

In typical fashion, there's some selections that stray into exotic locales, head deeper into Soul/R&B grooves, are of a more contemporary vintage serving to pay tribute to the sound, or are more recent recordings from ladies who were part of the scene back in the day.

Hope you enjoyed it!

All of your questions, comments or suggestions for future shows are all welcome. Please click the 'E-mail me' link over in the sidebar.

Thanks so much for listening...

What is the message? What is it's meaning?

When a vocalist takes the microphone, what do you receive?

Here was a smattering of songs of different moods and different styles, all with a message to convey.
(Just like any batch of tunes)

Some are playful, some are rich with 'intent'.

Did the few instrumentals convey as much as songs with lyrics?

Discuss.
(There are no wrong answers)

Merely a blatant bop down memory lane.

The lyrics are all familiar, even if the particular versions are not.

Funny how even some of the tunes that may have seemed abhorrent back in the day can fit like a comfortable old pair of shoes nowadays...
